Newark Black Film Festival’s Youth Cinema: I Lost My Tooth in Africa and An Apple For Harriet Tubman
Who: Kids ages 4 – 12.
What: Story of a young girl who loses a tooth while visiting her father’s family in Africa.  In the African tradition, the girl places the tooth under a gourd and, in return, gets two chickens from the Tooth Fairy. Emmy Award-winning PBS children’s series, Reading Rainbow. In An Apple For Harriet Tubman, children will learn about the life of Harriet Tubman, including the significance of apples for this remarkable American.

Montclair’s 59th Annual 4th of July Parade, Picnic & Fireworks
Who: All ages.
What: Annual town parade and picnic to celebrate Independence Day. Enjoy food from local vendors, live music, face painting, bouncy house, train rides and more!
Where: The parade begins at Bloomfield Avenue and South Fullerton and proceeds to Midland Avenue, north to Watchung Avenue, west to Valley Road and South to Edgemont Park. The picnic will be at Edgemont park. View the Fireworks at Mountainside Park. Entertainment at 7 p.m. fireworks at 9 pm.
When: Saturday, July 4. Parade begins at 11 a.m. (rain or shine) The picnic starts immediately after the parade. (no rain date)

Kids Workshop: Picnic Caddy
Who: Young carpenters ages 5 – 12.
What: The workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, while at the same time helping to instill a sense of accomplishment. In addition to the newly constructed project kit, each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates’ aprons, and an achievement pin.
