Hillside School’s “Book and Food Drive”

What: As part of the Day of Service, Hillside students will be collecting books to donate to The Unitarian Universalist Congregation’s Tutoring Program and the MLK School in New Orleans, LA. They will also collect non-perishable food items to be donated to The Human Needs Food Pantry in Montclair.

Bradford School’s “Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service”
Who: Students and their families.
What: Students may participate in a variety of different service activities. There will be several stations/booths set up so that our students can learn about different ways to help others in need. Some of the stations include trimming fleece blankets for children in the hospital, making overnight bags for children in transition to foster care, creating timelines of Dr. King’s life and a collection for Pennies for Peace, in which each penny buys a pencil for a child in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

What: A celebration of Dr. King’s life and legacy, sponsored by the NAACP and the Montclair African American Clergy Association with the cooperation with the Montclair Clergy Association. Video and readings by those who were active in the community during Dr. King’s lifetime will remember and recommit to a more just society.

Celebrate Dr. King, Explore the Dream Through Art

Who: Ages 4 – 12.
What: Drop-in for 1 hour and celebrate Dr. King with an art project exploring the themes of peace, equality and friendship. All participants are asked to bring a canned or boxed non-perishable food item to be donated to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey.

Live Y’ers Vacation Camp
Who:

Montclair Art Museum’s Park Bench - Black and white

What: A program that introduces children to the museum and provides them with an artistic social outing. Storytelling in the galleries is provided courtesy of the Children’s Services Department of the Montclair Public Library. Kids Workshop: Calendar
