Black History Month Celebration

What: Celebrate Black History Month with an African drum and dance performance by the Umoja Dance Company and hear special guest speakers including Montclair’s own renaissance civic leader Guy Whitlock and young adult fiction writer Tracey Baptiste whose novel, Angel’s Grace, was named “one of the one hundred best books for reading and sharing” by New York City librarians.

Montclair Art Museum’s Imagination Station – In Motion (Rose Piper)

What: A drop-in weekend program that will be held in the Museum galleries and will focus on a different artwork or theme each week. Families will be engaged in active looking, lively discussion, interactive activities and scavenger hunts, and have a unique opportunity to sketch in the galleries.

Three Day Beekeeping Course
Who: Ages 12 to adult.
What: Short course presented by the Essex County Beekeeping Society for new beekeepers as well as those in need of a refresher. Everything you need to know from purchasing and assembling equipment to harvesting, extracting and bottling honey. Course also includes disease and mite management. The Great West Essex Toy Swap

The Wind in the Willows

Can Toad’s friends drive the Weasels out and restore Toad to his senses?

Drop-In Art and Science Activities at Newark Museum

What: Participate in hands-on art and science workshops every weekend with a new theme each month. This month’s art theme is Everyday Heros. View artwork then paint a portrait of someone special in your life. This month’s science theme is Optical Illusions. Don’t always believe what you see. ICH’s United People of Color Black History Celebration

Mothering in Awareness – Sharing Our Birth Stories   

Who: New moms and their babies. 
What: A postpartum circle get together to meet new moms, share stories and experiences and discuss various topics related to your transition into motherhood.
