Summer Reading Club

Firefly Festival

What: Light up the night in Terhune Orchards’ Firefly Festival! Naturalist Elaine Madigan and other staff members will teach you all about the bright, little summer insects and all the other critters who live in the Terhune fields as you celebrate fireflies and warm summer nights. Enjoy nature, crafts, music, yummy food, and wagon rides and even do some firefly hunting on the whole farm! Schafer’s Gymnastics will demonstrate the “Art of Flying” and lead participants through a small obstacle course. Miss Amy and Her Big Kids Band will also provide musical entertainment in two special shows at 5:45 pm and 7 pm. When you come, don’t forget to wear your wings!

Montclair Art Museum’s Imagination Station – Hudson River School (Asher Durand)
Who: Families of all ages.

Forest Street Festival
Who: All ages.
What: Montclair Cooperative Schools festival featuring vendors selling art, crafts and more. A series of multi-family garage sales will be run in conjunction with the Festival. Edison Day  
Who: Everybody.
What: Mini-inventors can try their hand at an experiment or become Junior Rangers when they join the National Park Service in celebrating Edison Day. Then watch recordings as they are made of live musicians on a wax cylinder phonograph just as they would have been over 100 years ago or take in a lecture. Festivities are being held at both the Laboratory Complex and the Glenmont Estate in Llewellyn Park, where visitors can take tour of the house and grounds and even visit the garage to see some of the Edison cars, including electric ones dating back to the early 1900′s. End the day with a concert given by the Paragon Ragtime Orchestra on the lawn of the Glenmont Estate.
