NJ Sand Castle Contest 
Who: All ages.
What:  Join the fun at the 24th Annual NJ Sand Castle Contest, the largest sandcastle and sandsculpting event in NJ! Three prizes will be awarded in six different categories: 7 and under, 8 – 11, 12 – 15, 16 and up, Family, and Day Camps. Plus a Best on the Beach award. Enjoy free giveaways, drinks, snacks, music and more. Registration starts at 8 am.

Breast Help for Teens & Simple Meals to Protect them
Who: Teen girls and their moms.
What: This new talk will clarify breast self-exam, cystic breasts, fibroadenomas, excess estrogens from medications, and the nutrition connection. Recipes for simple, delicious and healthful foods will be presented, along with developing awareness of concern about the typical teen diet.

Here, There, Everywhere at Newark Museum
Who: Kids of all ages with adult.
What: Join the museum on a voyage of discovery around the world starting right here in NJ. Visit the galleries to explore artists from different cultures. Then create your own artwork using sculpture, printmaking, textile art and painting techniques. Each week focuses on a different art and science theme. This week create a print using symbols from Mexico’s ancient past. Then learn about African animal migration and make an animal mask to take home.    
Where: The Newark Museum, 49 Washington Street, Newark, NJ.
When: Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays in July from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Clearview Cinema Summer Kids’ Club
Who: Movie fans of G and PG-rated films.

Summer Family Film Festival at the Library
Who: Fans of family films.
What: Take a midday break with the kids and head to the library for free family films all summer long. This week watch The Secret Garden about a 11-year-old orphan who is sent to live with relatives in England and discovers a hidden garden.

Wavy Water Days: Montclair Art Museum at the Library

What: Create a three dimensional seascape out of layers of paper waves.

Montclair Art Museum’s Park Bench – Bugs!
Who: Parents with young children.
What: A program that introduces children to the museum and provides them with an artistic social outing. Storytelling in the galleries is provided courtesy of the Children’s Services Department of the Montclair Public Library. Local native Spanish educator Nieves Cespedes will conduct storytelling in Spanish. Breakfast refreshments are provided.

Newark Black Film Festival’s Youth Cinema: Not So Fast, Songololo, Elizbeti’s Doll, and Families of Ghana, West Africa

Who: Children ages 4 – 12.

What: In the marvelously illustrated film Not So Fast, Songololo, children will follow the warm and loving story of Songololo as he goes shopping in a South African city with his grandmother. Elizabeti’s Doll shows Elizabeti as she cares for and loves her doll Eva as if she is her very own baby. In the live-action program, Families of Ghana, West Africa, children will view a film exploring the life of rural and urban households in Ghana as told through children’s points of view.
