Here, There, Everywhere at Newark Museum
Who: Kids of all ages with adult.
What: Join the museum on a voyage of discovery around the world starting right here in NJ. Visit the galleries to explore artists from different cultures. Then create your own artwork using sculpture, printmaking, textile art and painting techniques. Each week focuses on a different art and science theme. This week create a print using symbols from Mexico’s ancient past. Then learn about African animal migration and make an animal mask to take home.    
Where: The Newark Museum, 49 Washington Street, Newark, NJ.
When: Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays in July from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Cost: Free with suggested admission: Adult $10 / children $6.
Mexico Beyond Mariachi at Newark Museum
Who: Everybody.
What: Alda Reuter and Peter Bogdanos present this performance of live music and dance with colorful costumes and authentic instruments, which explores the richly textured culture of Mexico.    
Where: The Newark Museum, 49 Washington Street, Newark, NJ.
When: Friday, July 16 at 1:00 p.m.
Cost: Free with suggested admission: Adult $10 / children $6.
Children’s Summer Sail
Who: Sea-faring families with children 5 to 12.
What: Take a guided tour of the Hudson River with marine biologist and Tenafly Nature Center‘s Executive Director to discover the life beneath the surface. From the beautifully restored 1928 two-masted, 115-foot oyster schooner find crabs, fish and other creatures of the Hudson River during this three hour relaxing trip for parents and hands-on learning experience for kids.
Where: Alpine Boat Basin, Exit 2 on Palisades Interstate Parkway, Alpine, NJ.
When: Friday, July 16 at 1:30 p.m.

Mother Goose & Toddlers Too Storytime
Who: Ages 2 – 5.
What: Introduce the pleasure of books to your child with picture books, flannel board books, nursery rhymes and finger plays.

Zumba Dance Workshop
Who: Ages 12 and up.
What: Montclair’s own Elsie Jenkins teaches teens the art of Zumba dance, which combines the Latin dance flavors of Cumbia, Salsa and Merengue with Hip Hop music to create a dance that is both fun and good exercise.

Rent
Who: Teens ages 15 and older.
What: The New Jersey Youth Theatre’s producton of Jonathan Larson’s Rent, a rock-tinged musical based on the classic opera La Boheme, an unforgettable story about a group of young artists falling in love, finding their voices, and living for today.

New Jersey Jackals: Flyaway Friday

Who: All ages.

What: Cheer on the New Jersey Jackals in their home game against Brockton with Flyaway Friday, T-Shirt Giveaway (for the first 1,000), Cub and Boy Scout Campout #2, and a special pre-game musical performance by Matt Roy.

Princess Cooking Class

Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel

Who: All ages.

What: The annual Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Feast kicks off with an opening mass for a weekend of 50/50s, popper instant games, entertainment, and loads of delicious food. Enjoy musical entertainment from the Edmund Brothers and compete in “Montclair Idol.” Super 50/50 tickets must be purchased in advance from the church rectory.
