Back to School Creations Parent/Child Class

Who: Parents and children.

What: Learn how to make delicious back-to-school snacks! Menu includes carrot and zucchini muffins and breakfast pizza.

Baking Artists Breakfast Treats

Who: Children ages 4 – 8.

What: The Baking Artist is making yummy treats that children will wake up for! This hour-long class will cover recipes for a healthy and nutritious breakfast as well as hone motor, sensory, and social skills. The class is designed to be lactose and nut free. Menu includes: banana chocolate chip waffles and mango smoothies.

Babysitter Training Course

Who: Children ages 11-15.

What: Sponsored by the Montclair-Glen Ridge-Nutley chapter of the American Red Cross, this workshop will train preteens and teens in babysitting. Participants will receive a babysitting handbook, a first aid and safety kit, an interactive CD, and a certification upon completion. Students must attend both session dates to be certified.

Where: American Red Cross Nutley Site, 169 Chestnut Street, Nutley, NJ.

Little Explorers Nature Program
Who: Ages 3 1/2 to 5.
What: A child-caregiver class that uses stories, walks and crafts to develop an awareness and appreciation of science and nature for the child as well as the caregiver. Each week, a different nature or science topic is covered.
Where: Essex County Environmental Center, 621 Eagle Rock Avenue, Roseland, NJ. 
When: Monday, August 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Teen Art Classes at MAM: Watercolor 
Who: Artists 15-years-old and up.
What: An intensive one-week course for teens who want to establish a foundation in watercolor by learning the techniques, color theory and mixing, tone, value and composition. All supplies are included.

New York Renaissance Faire

Kind Yoga Birth Method Workshop

What: Based on the art, science, and spirit of yoga, this birth preparation workshop taught by Kanan Kapila and Reshma Grindle teaches techniques designed to give parents the birth they desire. The workshop will focus on the labor and birth including signs of labor and hormonal changes, yoga for the four stages of labor including breathing techniques and poses, newborn essentials such as basic needs and resources, and the transition to postpartum.
