The Explorer’s Club

Who: Children in grades 3-5.

What: Children in grades 3-5 are old enough to actively engage the scientific method and participate in self-discovery. With the use of microscopes, they will dig deeper into the earth and all its natural wonders to study rock formations, geology, and more. With help from Erica Fisher and the Junior Naturalist Club, the Explorer’s Club will grow plants and make hypotheses about them using scientific principles. Participating children will be able to access Hartshorn Arboretum’s indoor Stone House classroom with its many animals and the outdoors classroom which includes 15 acres of woodlands, trails, vernal pool, sugar maple, and other special features.

Where: Hartshorn Arboretum, 324 Forest Drive South, Short Hills, NJ.

When: Thursdays from September 23 through December 9 at 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm.

The Junior Naturalist Club

Who: Grades 6-8.

What: The Junior Naturalist Club will dive deep into nature while exploring the different many scientific outlooks on the natural world. Crafty Toddlers

2nd Annual Cougar Gold Classic

Who: Golfers of all ages.

What: Be a part of this golf fundraiser that will be for the benefit of the technology program at St. Cassian School. This year, the fundraiser will be held in honor of alumnus Dr. James Morgan for his work as an advocate of human rights in Haiti and his organization Lamp for Haiti. Coffee & Career Circles: Babies to Briefcases Group

Who: Stay-at-home parents who want to return to work.

What: Small facilitated groups of four to six adults will meet to discuss topics and gain support and insight related to their journey from staying home to returning to work. Typically, group members possess, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree. Groups will meet at local coffee shops for five sessions, twice monthly.

Jake’s Ride for Dystonia Research 2010

Who: All ages.

What: Run, walk, or ride to help raise funds for Jake’s Ride for Dystonia Research 2010. After two years of fundraising, Jake’s Ride has been able to reach almost $500,000 for dystonia research and research grants. Route options range from 1, 5, 10, and 20 miles with different routes for walkers and riders. Participants in the race must be at least 5 year old.

The Explorer’s Club

Who: Children in grades 3-5.

What: Children in grades 3-5 are old enough to actively engage the scientific method and participate in self-discovery. With the use of microscopes, they will dig deeper into the earth and all its natural wonders to study rock formations, geology, and more. With help from Erica Fisher and the Junior Naturalist Club, the Explorer’s Club will grow plants and make hypotheses about them using scientific principles. Participating children will be able to access Hartshorn Arboretum’s indoor Stone House classroom with its many animals and the outdoors classroom which includes 15 acres of woodlands, trails, vernal pool, sugar maple, and other special features.

The Junior Naturalist Club

Coffee & Career Circles: Babies to Briefcases Group

Who: Stay-at-home parents who want to return to work.

What: Small facilitated groups of four to six adults will meet to discuss topics and gain support and insight related to their journey from staying home to returning to work. Typically, group members possess, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree. Groups will meet at local coffee shops for five sessions, twice monthly.

Learn to Ride–Kids
Who:
Best for children ages 5 and up.
What: This class teaches a safe, easy, effective way to learn to ride. Using this “balance first” method, facilitators help get children rolling while the child does most of the work. Participants learn the basics of balancing, starting, stopping, and steering a bike, as well as proper helmet fit and adjustment. Most kids learn to ride their bike while
taking the class, but even if they don’t, they will leave with an easy, hands-free, crash-free, and low-stress way to learn to ride. Refeshments will be provided.

Kids Workshop: Football Display
