Barista Kids Back to School Bash

Who: All ages.

What: A super fun party to celebrate going back to school. Bouncy houses, live entertainment from Mr. Ray and School of Rock Montclair, fun activities, great food and much more!

Where: Soccer Domain, 14 Depot Square, Montclair, NJ, 07042.

When: Sunday, September 19 from 2 pm – 5 pm.

Cost: $5 in advance / $7 at the door.


New York Renaissance Faire

Who: Lords and ladies of all ages.

What: Follow Robin Hood and his Merry Men and Queen Elizabeth with her royal court as fantasy comes to life in the 33rd season of the New York Renaissance Faire! Enjoy live stage performances and interact with the hundreds of costumed actors and musicians who are sure to make ye laugh your breeches off. Peruse shoppes filled with handmade goods and don’t miss the living chess match between Robin and the Sheriff of Nottingham or the chance to cheer on your favorite knight in the joust! Join in on the fun and come in costume!

When: Saturdays, Sundays, and Labor Day from August 7 – September 26 from 10 am – 7 pm.

Where: Sterling Forest, 600 Route 17A, Tuxedo, NY.

Fall Art Class Enrollment

Who: Adults and children ages 2 – 12.

What: The entire month of September is the time to enroll in Fall Art classes at Express Yourself Studios! Fall classes begin October 11 and continue until December. With Express Yourself Studios’ wide variety of art classes there is sure to be a class to suit any and all interests so come and stop by before classes begin.

Where: Express Yourself Studios, 1912 Springfield Avenue, Maplewood, NJ.
When: Enrollment continues through the month of September. Deadline September 30.

RISE: Yoga as Peace in Action – Kid’s Mala 2010

Who: Children ages 6-14.

What: Global Mala NJ 2010 by RISE: Yoga as Peace in Action presents Kid’s Mala 2010. The day includes, Amazing Yoga with Loring Nagle, a super drum circle with Sharon Siverstein (she provides the drums!), and help create a meaningful recyclable art project with Liz Cohen that could be displayed around Newark! And don’t forget bring all your pennies to donate to a special PEACE project to help clean up the gulf! Kids events occur simultaneously with event geared towards adults.

Where: Central High School, 246 18th Avenue, Newark, NJ.
When: Sunday, September 19 from 9 am – 2 pm.

Back to School “Bike Train” Family Bike Ride 
Who: Biking families.
What: Join the “Bike Train” as they ride on suggested safe routes through Maplewood and South Orange to each of the district’s schools. If you would like to join en route, please find the route map with approximate times on the website.  
Where: Meet up NJ Transit Parking Lot, Baker and Maplewood Avenue.
When: Sunday, September 19 from 10 am 2 pm.
Cost: Free.


American Girl Tea

Who: Girls ages 6 and up.

What: Join Lanie, American Girl’s 2010 Girl of the Year for tea and crafts! Lanie is a city girl who learns about the natural world right in her own back yard. Bring your favorite doll (American Girl or other) and explore the Arboretum gardens.

Where: Reeves-Reed Arboretum, 165 Hobart Avenue, Summit, NJ.
When: Sunday, September 19 from 2 pm – 3:30 pm.

Back to School

Who: Children in Pre-K to grade 5.

What: Just Kidding Around presents a day of fun and education games and music for children! Jason R. Levine aka Fluency MC will be featured at the event. He will be presenting ColloCards and ColloTunes – card games and music of his own invention that promote language and learning in a subconscious manner.

Where: Just Kidding Around, 5-7 Bloomfield Avenue, Montclair, NJ.

9th Annual Latino Film Festival

Who: All ages.

What: Montclair High School students will be presenting four films that celebrate Hispanic heritage and cultural influences. Each film will be introduced by a Hispanic guest speaker.

Where: Montclair Public Library, 50 South Fullerton Road, Montclair, NJ.
When: Sundays, September 19, 26, October 3, and 10 at 2 pm.

Hairspray’s Blowout Bash!

Who: All ages.

What: Join Papermill Playhouse as they celebrate the opening of Hairspray! There will be rides, games, contests, food, live music and entertainment by The Fantastic Party Dolls Show and Dance Band and DJs from WPLJ-95.5 FM radio station, and a special appearance by the cast of Papermill’s production of Hairspray!

Where:  Main Street and Taylor Park in Downtown Millburn.

Young Eagles Flight Rally
Kids ages 8 to 17
What: Opportunity to go flying in a real airplane and eat hot dogs, hamburgers and BBQ (maybe after the flight).
Where: Essex County Airport, 125 Passaic Avenue, Fairfield, NJ.
When: Sunday, September 19. Registration starts at 9 am and flights are first-come, first-served, weather permitting. Registration closes at 3:30 pm (last flight will return by 4:00).
Cost: Free!


West Orange Town Picnic

Who: West Orange residents of all ages.

What: Enjoy music, food, games, and live music and entertainment as you meet neighbors and learn about West Orange in the Town Picnic! There will even be a chance to help create the new community mural!

Where: Town Hall Front Lawn, 66 Main Street, West Orange, NJ.

When: Sunday, September 19, from 12 pm – 3 pm.

Cost: Free to all West Orange residents.
