What: Race to Nowhere is a film about a concerned mother takes action with her camera to challenge school systems and cultures where cheating has become common, students are disengaged, stress and depression rates in students are rising, and the college bound youth is uneducated or uninspired. The film is a call to action to challenge the assumptions made on how best to educate today’s youth and best prepare them for their future.

Who: Grades 1-2.
What: With the guidance of group leader Sabina Soloway, first and second graders will do scientific investigations of the woodlands from floor to canopy then use what they find in creative ways. Children will learn about all the little critters and creatures we share our planet with. They will be able to access Hartshorn Arboretum’s indoor Stone House classroom with its many animals and the outdoors classroom which includes 15 acres of woodlands, trails, vernal pool, sugar maple, and other special features.
Where: Hartshorn Arboretum, 324 Forest Drive South, Short Hills, NJ.
When: Tuesday from September 21 through November 30 at 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm.
