Cost: $18 per family. All families are asked to donate a non-perishable food item that will be donated to the Interfaith Food Pantry of Morris County

Visual Arts Center of New Jersey: Accordion Book Mania

What: Participate in book artist Erin Sweeny’s Accordion Book Mania, a community arts workshop at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey. One of the oldest and simplest forms, the accordion is the foundation of many book formats. This fun, hands-on community workshop will explore several varieties of the folded form, including simple pop-ups, books with folded pockets and others with sections of sewn-in pages. Adding different kinds of covers, participants will create a finished book or two of their own. In addition, each participant can make a personal contribution to a community accordion book to celebrate the ideals of books as art, making art about books, and books as special objects worth preserving.
Where: Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, 68 Elm Street, Summit, NJ
When: Sunday, November 13 from 1 pm – 4 pm

Ezra Jack Keats Family Day

What: A fun-filled afternoon in celebration of the author/illustrator of The Snowy Day, Whistle for Willie and other storybook favorites. Delight in a live music, hear storybook readings, create a work of art inspired by Keats’ illustrations and explore the exhibition with special gallery hunts.There will also be mural-making and storytelling by students from the Harlem School for the Arts.
Where: The Jewish Museum, 1109 5th Avenue, NYC
When: Sunday, November 13 from 12 pm – 4 pm.
Cost: Free with museum admission–Adults $12 / children under 12 free.
