The Nutcracker at SOPAC

Who: Kids and families.
What: E. A. Hoffmann’s fairy tale, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, first premiered in 1892 with music by Peter Tchaikovsky and choreographer Marius Petipa. New York Theatre Ballet’s production, choreographed by Keith Michael, is the only hour-long Nutcracker, presented by a professional troupe, in the metro area. It is perfectly suited to the attention span of younger audience members, yet sophisticated enough for the most discerning adult.
Where: South Orange Performing Arts Center, 1 Trenchard Place, South Orange, NJ.
When: Sunday, December 4 at 7 pm.
Cost: $30, $40 for the general public, $25, $35 for SOPAC members.

Annual Reading of A Christmas Carol

Who: All ages.
What : St. George’s annual reading of A Christmas Carol. All are welcomed to read or to listen. Gather at 6 and begin to read around 6:30. They usually finish around 9:30 and celebrate with plum pudding and a glass of smoking bishop. Along the way, there’s plenty of food, drink and a cozy fire. And the company… the company is grand.

St. George’s Episcopal Church, 550 Ridgewood Road, Maplewood, NJ.
When: Sunday, December 4 at 6 pm.
Cost: Free. If you would like to read, RSVP to Jane Cates and she’ll get you a section or two (usually just a few pages). If you’d like to listen, let her know that also so we know how much food to fix.

Family Hanukkah Celebration With The Macaroons Concert

Snowflake Parade

What: Go to the 28th annual Snowflake Parade! Clowns, bands, marching bands, and more will join in the parade followed by Santa’s arrival on Millburn’s Firetruck.  Enjoy refreshments while you visit with Santa and get your picture taken. The Millburn Police department will be collected new, unwrapped toys for Toys For Tots.
