What: Lacordaire Academy will present a Christmas Festival on December 13 ^th at 7:00 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium located at 155 Lorraine Avenue, Upper Montclair. The Academy’s 1 ^st and 2 ^nd graders will perform a magical evening of Christmas carols and dance. The 5 ^th and 6 ^th graders will perform the legendary classic, A Christmas Carol, bringing to life Charles Dickens’s familiar characters in this “ghostly tale.” Scrooge, Marley, The Ghosts of Past, Present and Future, Cratchit, and Tiny Tim will delight and entertain. “I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future. The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach. Oh, tell me I may sponge away the writing on this stone!” said Scrooge.

What: An evening with Makoto Yoshida, Ph.D., Director, Center for Lesson Study, William Paterson University, a presentation and Q & A called “Singapore Math: What it is and why it works,” and discussions on additions topics such as how to support your child’s mathematical thinking, insight on standardized math testing, and math trends in the US and Asia.

What: Go and celebrate Hanukkah and enjoy some food at Le Parc Place! Just in time for the holidays!

Who: Children ages 3 to 6
What: Mother Goose is designed to promote literacy among our preschool-aged patrons. In addition to picture books and flannel board stories, songs and puppets are also used to build upon children’s natural enthusiasm for books and reading. Children of all abilities are welcome.
When: Thursdays, November 29, December 6 & 13 at 2pm
Where: Montclair Public Library, 50 Fullerton Avenue, Montclair

Who: Parents of children entering Pre-K in 2013.
What: The Montclair Community Pre-K (MCPK) will conduct its annual open house/ tours for  September 2013 enrollment. The school offers a comprehensive Related Arts Program, a thriving Parent Association, a full time school nurse and prides itself on outstanding kindergarten readiness.  Financial aid for tuition is available for Montclair families
