What: New and old collide when Philadelphia’s high-octane Illstyle & Peace Productions arrives with a performance that blends hip hop dance styles with tap, ballet, DJing and beat boxing. Founded in 2002 by Brandon “Peace” Albright, this multicultural troupe has toured to critical acclaim, both nationally and internationally. “They’re fabulous!” says The New York Times. “Watching these dancers is like watching the greatest ballet virtuosos, each fighting gravity and the appearance of effort, and demanding and getting the impossible from the human body.”

Kwanzaa Children’s Festival

What: An afternoon of free Kwanzaa activities, including hands-on workshops (for adults and children) in African dance and music, storytelling, Capoeira, drumming and more. These workshops give families the opportunity to learn more about the Kwanzaa holiday and the African Diaspora. There will also be a Children’s Book Fair, an Arts and Crafts Village featuring face painting, hands-on activities such as spirit masks, sekere crafting, Kwanzaa wish scrolls, and more.
